Coming soon from HODINKEE: A new podcast series showcasing the interesting personalities we've met through a shared passion for watches. Join host Stephen Pulvirent and the rest of the HODINKEE editors for conversations with a rotating cast of writers, actors, creative directors, musicians, watch experts, entrepreneurs, chefs, designers, and more.
Synopsis¶
This is the debut pre-episode of Hodinkee Radio, a new podcast from Hodinkee, an online platform that celebrates handmade objects with a focus on watches, cars, architecture, and design. The hosts are Steven Pulvirent, managing editor at Hodinkee, and Ben Clymer, founder and CEO of Hodinkee. They explain that while this is a watch podcast, it's really about the interesting people involved in collecting rather than just the objects themselves.
The episode features various audio clips showcasing the diverse and fascinating personalities the Hodinkee team has encountered over the years, including sitting US presidents, world-renowned musicians, architects, designers, and entrepreneurs. The clips touch on topics ranging from philosophical discussions about vintage watches and patina, to humorous anecdotes about choosing between meeting Jay-Z and attending class, to car collecting (specifically a 2015 Porsche 991.1 Carrera S in rhodium silver metallic). The hosts emphasize that the most rewarding aspect of their work is the people they meet through the collecting community. They conclude by inviting listeners to subscribe on iTunes, Stitcher, or other podcast platforms for episode one the following week.

| Unknown | Three, two. Hey folks, this is Steven Pullmarant, managing editor at Hodinky. And I'm Ben Klymer, founder and CEO of Hodinky. And this is the debut episode, or I guess a pre-episode, of Hodinki Radio, a new podcast from the people at Hodinki. For those of you who might not be familiar, Hodinki is an online platform that celebrates all things handmade. We talk a lot about watches, but we also talk about cars and architecture and design. So although this is a watch podcast, it's not really a podcast about watches, it's a podcast about people. You know, I've I've been doing this for a number of years, and the best part is that we meet some of the most interesting people in the world. One thing that has been the most rewarding about my 10 years with Hodinky is exactly that. I've gotten to meet sitting US presidents, I've gotten to meet the world's greatest musicians and architects and designers and entrepreneurs. And the one thing that makes watch collecting and really collecting anything so special is the people that actually do the collecting. I actually think like a watch is actually a very modern object Current watches kind of leave me a little underwhelmed, this whole Fotina thing has been weighing on me philosophically. Oh, do tell. Do tell. And I was like, which is more absurd? Like telling Jay-Z I gotta go because I gotta get to class? Or telling my professor that I was late because I was at Jay-Z's house. Uh so I ended up I ended up staying, of course. I bought a 2015 991.1. Oh yeah. Carrera S. I'm so excited about it. What color? Uh r |

And that's how we should be thinking about all the objects too. Can they make you happy? Do they bring joy to your face every time you see them? You have two watches on your |

Now I'm not gonna give away too much, but we look forward to sharing what we've put together with you. You can subscribe in iTunes, Stitcher, or wherever else you listen to podcasts, and we'll see you next week for episode one. Yeah, that was great. |
